05 / FOUNDER
Built from practice,
not just theory.
Kim Stahlheber pairs a stylist’s creative eye with a Board-Certified Trichologist’s perspective. A licensed cosmetologist behind the chair since 2007, she connects hair and scalp science to the craft you already know—and the care you want to give.
“You don’t need to diagnose to make a meaningful difference.”

Consultation / Quick referenceNotice the change
Read the guide +
Describe what you see before naming a cause. Compare density, part width, breakage and the guest’s reported shedding. Shedding, breakage and gradual thinning can overlap; a salon observation cannot establish a diagnosis.
Try saying: ‘I’m noticing a change in the density here. Have you noticed anything different?’AAD: shedding and hair loss ↗
Consultation / Quick referenceListen for the timeline
Read the guide +
Ask four questions: When did you first notice it? What has changed in the last few months? Is there itching, pain or burning? What care or treatment are you already using? Ask permission before discussing health changes and let guests choose what they share.
Document neutral observations with consent. Keep health information in your approved secure client system, never in this learning page.AAD: evaluation and treatment ↗
Hair + scalp concerns / Quick referenceGLP-1s + shedding
Read the guide +
Hair loss is reported in Wegovy prescribing information. Weight change, nutrition and other factors can accompany treatment; the report alone does not establish the cause or type of an individual’s hair loss. Do not assume every GLP-1 user has telogen effluvium, or advise changing prescribed medication.
Try saying: ‘Let’s bring this change to your prescriber or dermatologist so they can assess what is contributing.’FDA: Wegovy prescribing information ↗
Salon support / Quick referenceSupport within your role
Read the guide +
Reduce avoidable tension and harsh handling. Ask about comfort before heat, chemical services or scalp treatments. Adapt or postpone a service when the scalp is irritated or the cause is unclear. Follow your license, local requirements and product directions.
Cosmetic support is not a promise of regrowth. Medical treatment and supplement decisions belong with the guest’s qualified clinician.AAD: hair-care tips ↗
Products + evidence / Quick referenceRead past the buzzword
Read the guide +
Ask whether a claim comes from a finished-product human study, an ingredient study, a laboratory experiment or a testimonial. Those are different kinds of evidence. FDA states that there are no FDA-approved exosome products. An ingredient trend does not establish safety or regrowth benefit.
For supplements, avoid a blanket biotin recommendation: NIH reports little scientific evidence for hair benefits, and biotin can interfere with some lab tests.FDA: exosome safety alert ↗NIH: biotin evidence + lab interference ↗
Referrals / Quick referenceRefer with confidence
Read the guide +
A dermatologist can assess the cause of hair loss. New patches, progressive loss, persistent scalp symptoms or uncertainty are reasons to recommend evaluation. Pain, burning, inflammation or scarring concerns deserve prompt medical assessment; do not delay referral while trying a salon product.
Try saying: ‘I can describe what I’m seeing, but I can’t determine the cause. A dermatologist is the right next step. We can adjust your salon care while you arrange that.’AAD: dermatologist-led care ↗

NOTICEDescribe the location and visible change. Ask consent before photos. Avoid a diagnostic label.
LISTENAsk about onset, recent changes, symptoms and current care. Make room for the emotional impact.
SUPPORTUse gentle handling. Adapt the service to comfort and scalp condition. Stay within your professional role.
REFEREncourage evaluation for unexplained or progressing loss. Pain, burning or inflammation calls for prompt assessment.
